I have found the following principles really help the quality of my life. They are difficult to do and I’m far from perfect at them, but I’ve managed to make some progress over 15 years. Some examples are, trying to be truly present as much as possible so I can raise my level of consciousness, meditation, questioning my thoughts and judgements, practicing minimalism and simplicity. Also, I try to be kind, but it’s not always easy and I fail often. I think true kindness is very different from being nice and telling people what they want to hear (which seems like societal conditioning and not genuine to me).
A main principle that I’ve followed my entire life is being frugal and living beneath my means. I still have nice things and splurge now and then, but I’m not flashy and I don’t define myself by the things I have or money. This is probably the principle that’s benefited me the most.
