I realized I was using the Derwent Inktense pencils wrong. At least for the effect I’m trying to achieve, which is subtle. So with this one, I worked in a few layers and started with very light layers of liquid ink, then added the pencils lightly on top. I also used a better quality paper, which made a huge difference. The sketchbook paper I was using buckles way too easily.
