Inktober day 1

It’s that time again, October. The month of Inktober that I always look forward to. Even though I’m not doing the prompts, I still consider it participating. I’m going to try to do the Chinese zodiac for 12 of the drawings and then pretty much whatever I feel like doing for the rest.

I’ve already prepared a significant amount of sketches, because there’s no way I’d be able to finish it all in a month otherwise. I remember when my sister first told me about Inktober, many years ago- she was like ‘yeah you work on a drawing’ and I was like ‘one for the whole month?’ And she laughed, then she was like ‘no, one every day.’ That filled me with horror at the time because I was so slow at art. It would take me forever to even do one painting or drawing. I thought a 16×20 painting was huge at that time. So I feel like I’ve come a long way 😊. But funnily enough I recently found out that there’s a Slowvember, which would have been perfect for me! I’ll have to give that a try this year.

Unfortunately the sketches I prepared in my sketchbook turned out to be on paper that’s just not suitable for acrylic inks, which is what I was planning on coloring them in with. I didn’t really pay attention to that when I drew them out, because I really just wanted to finish this sketchbook. So some of my pieces will include color and some won’t.

Happy drawing!
