Kitten Paintings WIP | Cats Are My Spirit Animal

I’m working on a series of cat paintings. I’m having so much fun painting these, it’s impossible not to laugh looking at them 😂. Cats have always been my spirit animal. I remember when I was a kid around age 7 and I used to wander the neighborhood by myself or with my sister. There were two cats I used to hang out with, a black one and a white one. I was always amazed at how adorable cats were, they just seemed so mysterious. I remember being thrilled that something like that existed.

As time went on, cats frequently appeared in my life. When I was 13 or so, a friend’s cats had kittens and to my surprise my parents let me get one! I had always wanted a cat as a kid, but my parents said no until then.

15 years later that cat died, and a while after a cat approached me in a park where I was playing tennis with a friend. It wanted to come home with me. I tried to find out if it had an owner, but the vet informed me that people do abandon cats, which is really sad, so I ended up keeping her and she ended up living with my grandmother.

Then after moving into my house a cat started visiting me and I almost kept it but it turned out it lived in the neighborhood. It was such a friendly cat and it would just sit on my lap! That’s so rare. When I went into my house it would sit outside and just meow really loud LOL. I was afraid my neighbors would think it was being abused or something. 😕

Despite all this, I never ended up getting a cat after I moved because I like to travel and I feel bad leaving it home all day while I’m at work and stuff. But I ended up with a cat that I didn’t plan on having because it would have ended up in the shelter otherwise and that was just so sad to me.

Also, often when I go on vacations, cats just come up to me and they’re really friendly.. it’s happened a few times!

So I have to do a cat series…
