Nature, Painting and the Past Week

The weather has been so nice lately, so I’ve been spending a lot of time outside. Not too hot, not too cold, really perfect.

I couldn’t resist buying some plants and one of my goals is to become better at taking care of them. Plants are like little works of natural art.  Look at this venus fly trap, nature is so creative.

So cute 🥰

Just googled Venus fly traps and it’s a good thing I did, because I was already doing some things wrong.  I didn’t realize you’re not supposed to give them tap water or that fertilizer is bad for them.  Also interesting that they don’t like nutrient rich soil, which isn’t something I would have expected at all!

When I was outside checking on the Venus flytrap, I heard a chewing sound behind me and I noticed this huge caterpillar eating the leaves!  So funny 🤣.

There’s a whole bunch of them living on this plant, I think it’s meant for butterflies,  I’m not sure what kind of plant it is though.

I’m, of course, working on some paintings- some pure experimentations on paper, two mushroom paintings based on stock photos, and two paintings based on photos I took in Kauai a very long time ago.  None of them are done yet, I like to work on a lot of paintings at once to fight potential boredom.

This looks like a total disaster lol

I made egg drop soup, it turned out okay, but just didn’t have the same flavor that you get at a restaurant, probably because I made it healthier as I usually do when I cook for myself.

I also made potstickers from scratch and those turned out really good. The dough was so much easier to make than I thought and it wasn’t really that bad to roll out and make the dumplings.  The great thing is you can fill it with whatever you want, I put tofu, cabbage and some other stuff, I don’t remember what else.  You can just cram whatever you want in there, it’s great!  Definitely something I’m going to keep doing because I trust stuff I make myself much more than the crap that you get in the store.  It’s sad, but unfortunately a reality.

Also, my partner made biscuits and they were so freaking amazing!  He’s a natural good cook, but sadly doesn’t enjoy cooking 😢
