This is a bit of a mini fantasy rant.

I’m biased here, music is a passion for me, one of my great loves.  But I really wish more people got into it.  When I was in Germany, I noticed how most houses I visited had a piano.  I had an image in my mind of people gathered around the piano having a great time.  It just seems more part of the culture there or maybe it used to be. I’ve been wondering, why aren’t more people into music? As in, why don’t they participate more in it and have it as part of their lives? I don’t mean just listening to it, I mean actually learning it, spending time on it over the course of their lives.

It could be just me, but how much more fun would social gatherings be if we all got together and played some music???  And danced!  It’s a fantasy, I know.  It takes effort over time to become that fluent in music. But it could be a thing if it was more a part of our culture. If everyone just naturally learned an instrument over time. If it were just what we did as a normal part of our lives.  I really wish music was more of an active part of our lives instead of lets say – social media. It would certainly bring us more joy.

I’ve always associated music with happiness.  I’ve had years of practice, but singing has always made me happy since I was a child. For no reason at all. It is just happiness for me.  Music offers so much.  It’s good for the mind, it’s a challenging skill to learn and master, you can always get better at it, it puts you right into the present moment and it’s something that can’t be taken away from you.  It never ceases to improve my mood and give me a boost of energy.  It’s something I always come back to and will always be with me. I guess I wish it was something I could share with more people.  It’s great to do it alone, it’s still fun and feels great. But getting together with people and sharing it would be so nice! I’d actually want to go to social events. Like instead of talking, if we could get together and just play some music.

I wonder how many people use music like that, together, just for fun.
