We just got back from a nice cruise with some family. The Wonder of the Seas was a beautiful ship. And it was huge!  I’ve been cruising for 20 years and I can’t believe how large these ships have gotten.

A big part of cruising is the food😂 Unfortunately, I can’t eat all that much in one sitting ( probably for the best ) but it’s still nice to try the different things and not to have to cook or really have to do anything.  I feel a bit like a spoiled child whenever I’m cruising.  Got a lot of exercise as well because all the walking and stairs, because the ship was so huge.

There were a lot of pools to relax in as well as hot tubs.  I’d never seen a pool where there’s lounge chairs in it with shallow water and you can lay down and read. It was nice. Usually the hot tubs are crowded, but we were able to get in every day.  There was a big hot tub on the side of the ship with huge windows, so awesome!  They had water slides, dry slides, rock climbing, ice skating, surfing, and various sports activities.  Definitely plenty to keep you busy. 

I really liked the 365 ice show. It makes me want to ice skate again, but I have a bad feeling I’d end up with another knee injury or some other injury.

And the Intense show in the Aqua Theater was unique.

We also saw the Voices show in the inside Theater, which was decent.

We stopped at CocoCay, St. Thomas and St. Maartan.  I didn’t get any pictures in CocoCay because I didn’t bring my camera or phone. It was nice, we walked around a bit, took the tram ( which we later realized was TOTALLY unnecessary ), went to the buffet and then went in the water for a bit.

Below are some pictures from St. Thomas. So beautiful. We did an excursion, but I don’t think it was really worth the cost for what it involved. Maybe worth it for the view.

On St. Maarten, the “scenic coastal hike” excursion we did actually kicked my ass. I looked around at our group and vaguely wondered why it was just eight people. Six of them were my party. Well, I soon found out. I have never encountered that kind of heat and I live in Florida!

I was expecting a leisurely hike on flat terrain in the shade. Totally my fault, because I didn’t look very closely at the description, I kind of just went along with my group choosing that excursion. But it was actually moderately strenuous, in the sun, along a single file rocky path where in places I was afraid I’d tumble off the side of the cliff if I lost my balance. Btw, I loved the excursion, I just wasn’t mentally prepared for it. And if I had known what I was facing, I would have eaten more for breakfast. It was mainly the heat that bothered me to the degree that I felt lightheaded and had to sit down and rest (OMG so embarrassing). But I was worried that if I ignored that feeling, I’d pass out and literally slip the long rocky way down into the water.

I saw a few iguanas on both St. Thomas and St. Maarten. They’re so cute! I looked up some info about them and can’t believe they can grow up to 6 feet long! Guess I wont be getting one as a pet 🙁

I had a great time and as all vacations do, it flew by so fast. Now it’s over.
